Walkthrough

  1. The seat you are in decides the job

The sequence runs from roughly the fourteenth minute of the video and shows the two-protagonist system doing real work. Lucia is at the wheel, Jason is leaning out with a carbine, and the camera switches between them without a cut. Raul Bautista is in the back, and the conversation frames the bank as a tryout for something larger.

  2. What the police know about you

This is the stretch that gave everyone the wanted system. The meter is six slots wide; underneath it sits a row of four red icons for your face, your clothes, your car, and the fact that the two of you are travelling together. At 14:24 the ammunition counter reads 36 and 268 under an M16-pattern silhouette.

  3. Breaking the description

Losing the chase means invalidating what the police have: change the vehicle, change clothes, split up. In the video the pair end up in a parking garage with the car burning behind them and Lucia in a bandana, then leave on foot into Bayside.

  4. Outlined stars

At 15:20 two stars are filled and four are drawn as empty outlines, which matches the reported behaviour that an outline means the police are searching without having confirmed a sighting. No official description of the system has been published.

  5. How the swap works while you are moving

This is the sequence to study if you want to understand the two-protagonist system. Press describe the change as instant while the pair share a scene, with a wider camera move when they are apart, and the character you drop keeps acting: driving the line, leaning out, reloading. In practice that turns a chase into a choice about which job you want, because whoever is in the passenger seat is the one who can shoot. Previews add that you can also swap seats mid-chase, so the decision is not locked in when the mission starts.

  6. Where the money goes afterwards

The conversation in the car frames the bank as a tryout, and the previews collected by Vice describe money as gating parts of the campaign: certain chapters do not open until a specific amount is in hand. That puts a job like this at the front of a chain rather than at the end of one. What the take actually is, whether it is split, and what it unlocks have not been published, and no figures exist for any robbery in the game.

What the police are working from

Spotted in trailer

The wanted meter in this sequence is the clearest look anyone has had at how being chased works in Grand Theft Auto VI. It is not one bar but a bar plus a description, and the description is what you have to break.

  • Six slots in the meter, filled stars for a confirmed sighting
  • Empty outlines while the police search without having identified you
  • Four icons underneath, for your face, your clothes, your car and the pair of you together
  • Invalidate them by changing vehicle, changing clothes or splitting up

Questions and answers

Is this the mission's real name?

No. Rockstar has published no mission titles, so the name here describes the sequence as it runs in the video.

How does the wanted system work in this chase?

The meter is six slots wide with a row of four icons under it, for your face, your clothes, your car and the fact that two of you are travelling together. Losing the chase means breaking that description rather than just outrunning the cars.

Can you switch between Jason and Lucia mid-chase?

The video switches between them without a cut, and previews describe the swap as instant while the pair share a scene, with seat swapping on the move. Rockstar has not documented the mechanic.

How much money does the job pay?

Nothing has been published. Previews say money gates parts of the campaign, but no figures exist for any robbery in the game.
